USCIS case status · Fingerprints
Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken
What it means
Your biometrics appointment is done and recorded. USCIS uses the fingerprints for FBI and other background checks, and for any card it later produces.
What usually happens next
The case waits for an officer. Many cases show no new status for weeks or months after this, which is normal. The next update is often "Case Is Being Actively Reviewed", a request for evidence, an interview notice or a decision.
What to do now
- Nothing is needed right now.
- Compare your wait with the published processing time; USCIS only takes an inquiry once you are outside it.
Questions
- Why has nothing happened since my fingerprints were taken?
- Background checks and the review queue take time. A quiet case usually means it is waiting in line, not that something is wrong.
