How long is my form taking?

Each form has a published range for every office, and where yours is handled can change it by months.

Forms decided centrally, at the National Benefits Center or Service Center Operations. Here the category of work is what changes the answer, not the office.

USCIS publishes the time by which 80% and 93% of cases were completed. Confirm on USCIS's processing times page.

About Processing Times

What does a processing time mean?

It is how long USCIS took to complete 80 percent of the cases of that form at that office in recent months. It describes cases already decided, so it is a guide to yours, not a promise.

When can I ask USCIS about my case?

When your receipt date is earlier than the "receipt date for a case inquiry" USCIS lists for your form and office. Add your received date on this page and it shows that date for you. Before then, USCIS usually answers that the case is still within normal processing times.

Why are there service center and field office times?

Some forms are decided at a service center and others at a local field office, where interviews take place. Look at the office handling your case; your receipt notice and your USCIS online account say which one it is.

How often do the times change?

USCIS updates its published processing times regularly, usually once a month. This page shows the latest figures USCIS has published and the month they are from.
