Biometric Appointment Was Scheduled

What it means

USCIS scheduled you for fingerprints, a photo and a signature at an Application Support Center (ASC). The appointment notice with the date, time and place is in the mail.

What usually happens next

After you attend, the status usually changes to show your fingerprints were taken. USCIS then runs background checks, which happen in the background.

What to do now

  • Go to the appointment. Bring the appointment notice and a valid photo ID, such as a passport.
  • If you cannot make it, reschedule through your USCIS online account or by calling USCIS before the date.
  • A missed appointment without rescheduling can lead to the case being denied as abandoned.

Questions

Can I go to the ASC before my appointment date?
Some centers accept walk-ins earlier than the scheduled date, but it is at their discretion. Bring your notice; if they say no, return on your date.
Do I need a new appointment if USCIS already has my fingerprints?
Not always. USCIS often reuses fingerprints from an earlier case. If you get a notice, attend it.
