What it means

USCIS granted what you applied or petitioned for. An approval notice (Form I-797) is mailed to you.

What usually happens next

What follows depends on the form: a card or document is produced and mailed (green card, work permit, travel document), the case goes to the Department of State for a visa interview abroad, or, for citizenship, an oath ceremony is scheduled.

What to do now

• Watch for your approval notice and check every detail on it.
• If a card is coming, make sure your mailing address is correct.
• If the next step is abroad, follow the National Visa Center's instructions when they arrive.

How long until my card arrives after approval?

Often two to six weeks. The status usually changes to "New Card Is Being Produced", then "Card Was Mailed To Me".
