USCIS case status · Decision
Oath Ceremony Was Scheduled
What it means
Your naturalization (N-400) was approved and USCIS scheduled the ceremony where you take the Oath of Allegiance. You become a U.S. citizen at the ceremony, not before.
What usually happens next
You attend the ceremony, hand in your green card and receive your Certificate of Naturalization.
What to do now
- Bring the ceremony notice (Form N-445) and answer its questions on the day.
- Bring your green card; you will give it back.
- After the ceremony, check every detail on the certificate before you leave.
Questions
- Can I apply for a U.S. passport before the ceremony?
- No. You need the Certificate of Naturalization, which you receive at the ceremony.
General information about how USCIS uses this status, not legal advice. Your own notices from USCIS always come first.
