Notice Explaining USCIS Actions Was Mailed
What it means
USCIS sent you a letter about your case. The status itself does not say what the letter contains: it can be a notice of intent to deny, a transfer, a reopening, a request, or another action.
What usually happens next
It depends entirely on the letter. Some need a response by a deadline; others are information only.
What to do now
- Watch your mail closely and read the notice as soon as it arrives.
- If it is a notice of intent to deny, note the deadline and talk to an immigration attorney.
- If the letter does not arrive within about two weeks, contact USCIS.
Questions
- Can I find out what the notice says before it arrives?
- Sometimes. Cases linked to a USCIS online account may show the notice there. Otherwise you have to wait for the mail.
