USCIS case status · Filing and receipt
Case Was Received At Another USCIS Office
What it means
Your case file has arrived at a different USCIS office from the one that first received it. USCIS moves files between service centers and field offices to balance workloads or because a local office handles the interview.
What usually happens next
The new office continues processing from where it left off. If an interview is required, it is often scheduled by the office that now has the file.
What to do now
- Look up the processing time for the new office, not the old one.
- Keep sending any mail exactly as your notices tell you; do not send papers to the new office unless asked.
Questions
- Does a move to another office slow my case down?
- Sometimes it speeds it up, sometimes not. The new office's own processing time is the best guide.
