USCIS case status · Review

Expedite Request Received

What it means

USCIS logged your request to process the case faster. It has not decided the request yet. Expedites are granted only for set reasons, such as severe financial loss, urgent humanitarian reasons or a clear USCIS error.

What usually happens next

USCIS either approves the expedite, in which case the case moves up the queue, or denies it and the case stays in normal order. You may see "Expedite Request Approved" or "Expedite Request Denied".

What to do now

  • Have proof of the urgent reason ready; USCIS may ask for it.
  • Do not submit the same request repeatedly; it does not speed up the answer.

Questions

Does an expedite request slow my case if it is denied?
No. A denied expedite leaves the case where it was in the normal queue.
